I hope our state department is paying attention.
Almost a year ago we at Politician Search commented on a foreign aid program to promote gay rights. Whether or not homosexual behavior should be allowed and accepted is a subject for discussion in and of itself. The fact remains, however, that many places in the world do NOT condone homosexuality. The continent of Africa is very conservative with respect to this sort of issue. This is also true of Islam, which considers homosexuality a sin. There are large Muslim populations in Africa, as well as many conservative Christians. The promotion of gay rights as official US government policy will cause a great deal of disdain and even hostility in these parts of the world.
